Introduction to Sewing Machines š§µ
Have you always fancied learning to sew but donāt really know where to begin? Or perhaps youāve sewn before, but itās been a while and youād love a gentle refresher?
This relaxed, confidence-building workshop is designed for complete beginners and anyone feeling a little rusty.
No pressure. No rushing. No expectation to be perfect. Just a small, friendly workshop where we start right at the beginning and help you make sense of sewing machines, stitches, bobbins and all those buttons and dials!
What Youāll Learn
During your workshop weāll cover:
⢠The main buttons, dials and controls and what they actually do
⢠How to thread a sewing machine
⢠How to wind and insert a bobbin
⢠Simple stitches and when to use them
⢠Some of the most common sewing machine frustrations ā and how to solve them
⢠Plenty of hands-on practice to help you start sewing with confidence
Learn on Our Brand-New Sewing Machines
For this first lesson, weād really love you to use one of our brand-new sewing machines here at Calme Nest.
It means everyone can begin on a machine that we know is set up correctly, working beautifully and ready to sew. You can concentrate on learning the basics without wondering whether a little problem is you or the machine ā because very often, itās the machine! š
You are absolutely welcome to bring your own sewing machine along too.
Weāll find some time during the session to get it out, have a try and help you begin transferring what youāve learned onto the machine youāll be using at home.
We just ask that your own machine has been serviced or properly maintained and is in good working order before you bring it along. Unfortunately, we canāt use workshop time to repair or troubleshoot machines that arenāt working correctly.
Small Groups = Plenty of Help
These workshops are intentionally kept small, with a maximum of just four people.
That gives us plenty of time for individual attention, questions and those little āCan you just show me that bit again?ā moments ā because thatās exactly what a beginner workshop should be about.
If availability allows, your session may even run as a one-to-one lesson, giving you dedicated guidance throughout.
